Untermyer Gardens Conservancy Announces the 2025 Grand Holiday Illumination

Yonkers, NY — The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy is delighted to announce the 2025 Grand Holiday Illumination, which will be open Saturday, December 6 through Sunday, January 4 at Untermyer Gardens, 945 North Broadway, Yonkers. Inaugurated in 2015, the Illumination is a cherished New York holiday tradition, drawing thousands of visitors each year to experience the magic of the season. Illumination is the only major light show in Westchester County that is FREE to enjoy.
This year’s festivities begin on Saturday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m. with a dramatic lighting ceremony in the historic Walled Garden, which will sparkle with more than 150,000 lights. Visitors can stroll the illuminated landscape while enjoying a curated playlist of holiday music drawn from many cultural traditions.
Following the opening ceremony, the Grand Holiday Illumination will be open every night from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m., free of charge and with no reservations required. The Illumination is OPEN on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
This year, the Conservancy is establishing a new tradition—the Grand March—which will take place most nights at 6:30 p.m. (see schedule on website) on the lower terrace lawn, weather permitting. Lasting about ten minutes, this guided line dance is appropriate for all ages and promises to be a fun experience that adds warmth and camaraderie to the evening. The dance will be accompanied by lively march music as participants form twosomes, foursomes, a tunnel, a spiral, and a runaround.
The Conservancy also extends its gratitude to the community organizations and volunteers who warmly welcome visitors each evening, offer free hot chocolate, and collect donations that support the event.
