Compensation: $68,640-$75,920

Join our dynamic team of Engineers and Arborists as we work together to improve the green infrastructure of NYC! Arcadis is seeking to hire multiple Assistant Project Managers/ Field Technicians to join our team to work on projects for NYC Parks within the five boroughs of NYC. This position will be expected to work full-time, with some opportunities for overtime.

This position will utilize your technical knowledge and experience to help guide the City’s tree preservation and street tree programs. As you grow with Arcadis, you will become involved with other NYC Parks’ programs, and with other City agencies, all with a focus on the City’s urban forest and other natural systems such as the Staten Island Bluebelt and park restoration projects.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Participate in weekly management meetings
  • Participate in mentorship program for 4-6months of hire as a mentee that meets weekly
  • Ability to become a mentor within first year of hire
  • Routinely correspond with direct reports providing them mentorship and leadership
  • Monitor health and safety concerns and point systems
  • Provide Manager Updates to senior leadership in reference to pursuits, field visits and team activities
  • Monitor construction daily for overall site safety, permit condition compliance and coordination with other City Agencies
  • Monitor Contractor’s adherence to technical requirements and overall responsiveness and effectiveness.
  • Maintain daily records and review the daily reports of other inspection personnel, providing feedback and advice for improvement.
  • Hold and attend field meeting with both contractor and owner to discuss progress, schedule and work remaining
  • Use the City’s ForMS program as required for the assignment—entering data using tablets and populating contract line items.
  • Act as an ambassador for the City’s urban forest resource during interaction with the City’s residents and landowners
  • Administer all H&S procedures as required by the owner and as detailed in the H&S manual

Desired Skills / Attributes:

  • Strong Tree and Plant Id knowledge
  • Ability to mentor early career arborists and engineers with positivity and innovation.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and ability to work both independently and within a diverse team representing Arcadis and/or our client Agencies in interactions with the client, local agencies and the community
  • Keen attention to detail and strong work ethic

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors or higher in environmental science, forestry, ecology, biology or equivalent
  • Currently hold ISA credential if not ability to sit and pass exam within six months of hire
  • Monitor construction daily for overall site safety, permit condition compliance and coordination with other City Agencies
  • Monitor Contractor’s adherence to technical requirements and overall responsiveness and effectiveness.
