Start Date: March 2026  Compensation: $20-$25/hour

Three Birch Gardens is looking for an Assistant Gardener to partake in horticultural tasks for private properties throughout Westchester County. The gardener will report to the on-site manager and be an integral part of the horticulture team. The gardener will participate in establishment and maintenance of perennial and shrub borders, weeding and mulching beds, and other required tasks. The gardener will be expected to be able to work as part of a small team, take directions, as well as operate independently as necessary.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Performs horticultural tasks such as planting, weeding, mulching,  pruning, and watering of display beds.
• Maintains individual garden areas to a high standard.
• Prunes shrubs and small trees and shears hedges.
• Shows respect for clients and their property
• Maintains a safe work environment through proper tool etiquette
• Communicates status of job site, including improvements or changes needed

Qualifications/Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in horticulture and fine gardening
• Punctual and dependable
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Perform all other duties and tasks assigned
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to perform physical labor outside in various weather conditions
• Comfort working outside year round
• Have your own vehicle

Additional Information

• 6 days paid vacation
• 1 paid sick day per month (non-accruing)
• Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day off
