Planting Fields Arboretum is seeking a motivated professional to assist with the care and maintenance of greenhouse collections are part of a historic Olmsted landscape that features some of the most rare and exotic species in the country. The greenhouse collections comprise nearly 2 1/2 acres of glass display greenhouses. Planting Fields is also home of the largest collection of camellias under glass in the northeast, which the greenhouse curator will help to cultivate and care for. The starting pay rate is $18.97/hr, 40 hours a week with the opportunity for advancement. In addition, after 6 months candidates are eligible for health benefits.
Responsibilities/Duties
The greenhouse curator will be responsible for working with a team of dedicated staff to care for and maintain a large and diverse collection of tropical and sub tropical plants including orchids, cacti and succulents, bromeliads, begonias, camellias, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
Applicants should have a good knowledge of gardening and the care of tropical plants. On the job training will be provided. A degree in horticulture or related field and at least two years experience in a greenhouse setting is a plus.
