Compensation: $70,128/yr.

The Climber/Pruner under supervision, performs all types of work required for the planting, maintenance, and removal of trees and large shrubs. Performs related work.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Climbs, prunes, braces, cuts, and fells trees and large shrubs.
  • Sprays trees and large shrubs to protect them against insects, fungi or other parasites and disease.
  • Plants, transplants, and cares for trees and large shrubs.
  • May perform tree inspection work as required.
  • Operates manual and power-driven equipment in the performance of the above duties and operates cars, trucks, and other motorized equipment incidental to the performance of the above duties.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Six months of satisfactory, full-time experience as a climber pruner or arborist performing all types of tree work
  • The planting, maintenance, and removal of trees and large shrubs, including climbing, pruning, bracing, cutting, and felling trees and large shrubs.
  • Operating manual, power-driven, and motorized equipment for the performance of these duties
  • Experience as a ground person is not acceptable towards meeting this requirement.

License Requirements:

  • A motor vehicle driver’s license valid in the State of New York
  • Within one year of appointment, employees must possess a Class B Commercial Driver’s License valid in the State of New York; the Class B Commercial Driver’s License must be maintained for the duration of this employment.
  • ISA Certification preferred.
