Madison Square Park, a seven-acre urban oasis, is located in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District at East 23rd Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues. Madison Square Park Conservancy raises 100% of the funds that support a program of commissioned contemporary public art, lush horticulture, Park maintenance, Park security, and other free cultural programs.

Position summary As a non-profit, the Conservancy raises 100% of the funds necessary to operate, maintain and program the park. This is accomplished through corporate memberships, sponsorships, fundraisers, cultivation events, marketing activations, donations from media productions, and individual giving. The Corporate Relationships Associate will report directly to the Senior Corporate Relationships Manager.

Responsibilities/Duties

The Corporate Relationships Associate acts as the primary liaison for corporate volunteer projects and provides administrative and onsite support for the Development Department in other revenue-generating activities.

Implementation of Corporate Volunteer Projects

  • Work with Senior Corporate Relationship Manager and Horticulture/Operations Department to design and schedule corporate volunteer projects.
  • Set up, lead, and store materials of corporate volunteer projects.
  • Communicate with corporate volunteer leads to confirm registration for projects.
  • Track attendance and draft volunteer debriefs for Communications and external vo lunteer contacts following each volunteer project.
  • Maintain inventory for volunteer supplies.
  • Assist Horticulture Manager with annual volunteer recognition luncheon.
  • Assist Operations and Horticulture staff when time sensitive projects cannot be filled by volunteers.

Public Programming

  • Assist Public Programming Associate with set up and/or breakdown for Horticulture, Art, and Sustainability, and other public programming.
  • Coordinate staffing of information/membership table at programs and sponsorship events.
  • Coordinate volunteer needs for off-season events.

Media Productions:

  • Assist with screening inquiries and managing agreements with media productions.
  • Communicate with the Parks Department and the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting regarding the permitting process.
  • Monitor onsite productions to ensure that safety standards are followed and impact to public visitors is within reasonable measures.
  • Address violations with external production leads and/or document damages to property.

Sponsorships:

  • Coordinate and oversee the load in and load out for sponsorship partners at MSPC programs
  • Assist Senior Corporate Relationships Manager with assembling digital sponsorship contract packages and decks.

Marketing Events:

  • Monitor onsite productions to ensure that safety standards are followed and impact to public visitors is within reasonable measures.
  • Follow up on marketing inquiries and communications with production leads as needed.
  • Troubleshoot with external production leads and/or document damages to property.
  • This is a permanent full-time position. There are some seasonal aspects of the Conservancy’s calendar that will require the Associate to prioritize some projects over others:
  • Year-round responsibilities include administrative and onsite support for sponsorships and media productions.
  • Peak volunteer seasons are April – June, and mid-September – November. Up to 50% of the week may be allocated to the implementation and tracking of volunteer projects.
  • Onsite supervision for marketing events is variable but infrequent.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; some evening and weekend work required with advanced notice.
  • Passion for volunteer coordination.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, artists, vendors, volunteers, and the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to multitask; adept at balancing multiple requests and priorities on a regular basis.
  • Basic graphic design skills with Adobe Creative Suites are a plus.
  • Knowledge of city permit agencies is a plus.
