Compensation: $20/hour

Bailey Arboretum is seeking a motivated individual with experience in outdoor education to lead, develop and expand its diverse year-round youth, family, and adult education programs. These year-round programs include school field trips and outreach programs, youth and family public programs, girl scout/cub scout programs, adult workshops, Bailey Arboretum signature family events and more. They will work to expand the base of programming offered at Bailey Arboretum that focus on current trends in the education field. 


  • Develop comprehensive and innovative environmental and scientific education programs that meet the needs and Next Generation Science Standards of schools and other educational organizations. This work includes scheduling, planning preparing, implementing programs and teaching.
  • Collaborate with outside organizations, school professionals, and related institutions to build relationships and potential partnerships.
  • Planning and overseeing community events: Annual Egg Hunt, Silly Scary Story Night, Holiday Gingerbread House Build, etc.
  • Promote and grow girl scout and cub scout programs by working with local organizations
  • Provide incentive-based programs and initiatives that align with our Family Membership Campaign
  • Overseeing and training of staff and volunteers within the Education Department
  • Maintain supplies for all programs
  • Review and update Education Department website content/calendar as needed
  • Assist with tracking program budgets and evaluating earned income potential


  • Preferred Experience: Masters or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, education, or related field
  • Strong background in outdoor education, informal teaching, environmental education, and related fields
  • Knowledge of plants and local wildlife
  • Ability to work independently
