Compensation: $35 per hour OBE
Matthew Placek Inc. is a boutique landscape design-build-maintenance group specializing in residential rooftops, terraces and townhouse gardens throughout NYC. Starting out of a personal love for horticulture, Matthew Placek expanded to serve high-end clients across NYC, with an unwavering eye for detail and an artist’s perspective.
We are seeking additional experienced freelance gardeners to join our team this fall and work alongside Matthew Placek for seasonal plantings and installations. This is part-time seasonal work through early December. Pay is $35 per hour or based on experience.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Assist Senior Gardeners in all aspects of garden maintenance, seasonal plantings and installations.
- Planting, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, watering, raking, cleaning, sweeping, all general plant care jobs.
- Alert Senior Gardener on all site conditions and plant health.
- Load-in/load out supplies on site.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Hardworking, self-motivated and collaborative team player.
- Some professional gardening experience is required.
- Interest in urban horticulture and motivated to develop professional gardening skills.
- Ability to carry 50 pounds and work in inclement weather.
- Takes direction well, keen eye for detail, good problem-solving skills and excellent common sense.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Courteous and professional manner.
- Clean driving record, valid driver’s license a plus.
