Plan it Wild is a sustainable landscape company that transforms private yards and commercial landscapes into beautiful native habitats that increase biodiversity, carbon capture, and absorb stormwater. Our brand of ecological landscaping is a simplified approach to restoring native plants and habitats. We want each customer to get a personal experience from us and to know the value of rewilding their land.
We are looking for a skilled Freelance Landscape Designer to develop site plans for our native planting and ecological restoration projects. You will work closely with our team to translate site assessments and client goals into clear, buildable design documents that guide our crews in the field.
Preferred
- Familiarity with northeastern native plants and natural habitats, especially Eco Region 59C
- Experience with ecological restoration, native planting, or habitat-focused design
- Knowledge of site grading, stormwater management, or sustainable landscape practices
- Local to Westchester County
Responsibilities/Duties
- Produce CAD-based site plans and planting layouts for residential and commercial native landscape projects
- Develop designs that reflect PiW's ecological and habitat restoration approach, incorporating native trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants
- Collaborate with the PiW team to incorporate site assessment data, client input, and ecological priorities into each design
- Revise drawings based on team and client feedback through an aligned approval process
- Deliver clean, field-ready files on agreed project timelines
Qualifications/Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in CAD, Photoshop, Indesign, & Adobe software
- Experience designing residential or commercial landscapes with planting plans
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative, fast-paced team
- Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with deadlines
