Full Time Tree Climber

Start Date: mid-late July Compensation: $25-28/hr
As a tree climber, you will review daily work orders with sales arborist and crew, interface with client, perform tree and garden services, fill out job trackers, and otherwise maintain records.
Arborpolitan is a full-service arboriculture firm located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. We focus on organic land care and tree work through the use of natural and traditional products. As an arborist firm we handle tree evaluation, pruning, removals and plantings, consulting, garden and landscape care, and Integrated Pest Management.. We promote a healthy work environment by working closely with each other and have continuous education and on the job training for all workers from office staff to PHC techs to climbers.

Qualifications/Requirements
Do
- A passion for ethical tree care
- Works well on a small team, in small groups, and individually
- 2-year degree in the natural sciences and/or 2-3 years in arboriculture
- Understanding of tree biology and pruning techniques
- Basic tree, shrub, and plant identification
- Chainsaw handling and basic repair
- Handy with the tools of the trade, able to lift 40 lbs
- Chipper safety knowledge
- Basic understanding of climbing and rigging and ropes (one and two rope techniques, knots, port-a-wraps, drop zone safety, etc.)
- Able to drive a large truck in urban conditions—valid drivers’ license required
- First aid and CPR training a plus
- ISA certification or pest applicator certificate a plus
- Current vaccinations and/or booster shots against COVID-19 required
