Job Type: Full time, seasonal
Brooklyn Grange is the world's largest green roof farming business. We grow vegetables, keep bees, and host programming & events on roofs in LIC, Queens, and Brooklyn, NY. We also design and install green roofs, gardens, and farms for clients ranging from private homes to corporate headquarters to low-income housing facilities. All three of our departments -- our Farm department, our Programming & Events department, and our Design/Build department -- are part of our close-knit "farmily," so working with Brooklyn Grange means working alongside a diverse team of extraordinary and knowledgeable individuals who share a common goal of making their city a greener, more sustainable, delicious, and equitable place to live.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Brooklyn Grange, the world’s leading soil-based rooftop farm business, is seeking focused, positive, hard-working individuals to help our garden Maintenance team cultivate off-site green roofs, urban landscapes, and other green spaces. The Design/Build Maintenance division is charged with the care of varied sites that include terrace gardens, green walls, indoor tropicals, green roofs, in-ground gardens, and edible landscapes.

The Gardener is an aesthetically driven, hard working individual who can maintain Brooklyn Grange’s standards of sustainable landscaping for indoor and outdoor gardens. In addition to cultivating healthy and well maintained plants, Gardeners should also be supportive team members. They should be collaborative and willing to jump in to help others, and comfortable working independently at client sites. Clear communication with other team members as well as clients is important. This position requires early mornings and frequent physical labor in varied weather conditions, as well as travel to several client sites across New York City and Long Island. Applicants must be adaptable to various settings, client needs, and systems.
