Compensation: $25-30/hour

Town and Gardens, Ltd. is seeking a skilled and passionate Gardener to join our team. This role is built for the experienced horticultural professional who has moved beyond the basics and possesses the confidence to work as a technical anchor within a team, working directly under the guidance of a Crew Leader / Senior Crew Leader. At Town and Gardens, our Gardeners are key stewards of our sites, combining technical skills with the professional judgment needed to keep NYC’s finest landscapes thriving. 

Responsibilities/Duties

Your Impact:

  • Execute with Precision: Perform high-level horticultural maintenance and installations at premier residential and commercial properties. You will work independently on specialized tasks and collaborate on large-scale team projects.
  • Apply Professional Judgment: Use your experience to monitor site conditions and plant health, communicating insights directly to Crew Leaders and Account Managers to ensure proactive care.
  • Maintain the Standard: Take a high degree of responsibility for the health of our gardens and the state of our resources. You will manage your assigned tools and equipment with an organized, professional eye.
  • Sharpen Your Craft: Actively participate in our paid, after-work training sessions. As a Gardener, you are a "teacher-in-training," sharing your knowledge with newer crew members while continuing to refine your own expertise.
  • Digital Documentation: Use Aspire, Outlook, and Google Drive to document your work, track materials, and stay aligned with the team’s schedule.

Qualifications/Requirements

What You Bring:

  • Horticultural Experience: At least 2 years of professional urban gardening experience or equivalent horticultural education.
  • Technical Eye: A keen understanding of urban plant care, with a strong interest in irrigation, lighting systems, and plant health.
  • Professionalism: A team-first attitude characterized by punctuality, clear communication, and a courteous presence on client sites.
  • Physicality & Mobility: The ability to lift 50 lbs, work in all NYC weather conditions, and travel to job sites via public transit.
  • Credentials: A valid driver’s license is strongly preferred. Experience with pesticides (Apprentice, Technician, or Applicator level) is a major plus.
