HILARY FINN GARDENS is a growing boutique landscape studio providing design, installation, and horticultural maintenance services. We are looking for employees who are excited about and love gardening.

We are hiring a full-time (35+ hrs/wk) Urban Gardener in New York City as a member of our garden services crew. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes to get their hands dirty and enjoys working outdoors. We are looking for a candidate with (1+) years of relevant experience. Maintenance service requires taking meticulous care of plants and garden spaces as well as a professional demeanor when interacting with clients and their staff. Our portfolio includes a wide variety of spaces from Manhattan penthouse terraces to Brooklyn back yards. Come and grow with us!

Location: New York City (primarily Manhattan & Brooklyn - offices based in Carroll Gardens)

Seasonal, full time (March - December) with possibility to continue part time on the off season.
Competitive pay ($22-26/hr to start), commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Plant Maintenance: perform plant maintenance with the direction of Lead Gardener including but not limited to weeding, pruning trees, shrubs and perennials, deadheading, training vines
  • Gardens Maintenance: perform garden maintenance tasks including cleaning surfaces and sweeping patios and sidewalks.
  • Driving - transporting crew and materials from site to site, picking up materials, cleaning out and organizing vehicle as needed on a weekly basis

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and comfort driving a company cargo van/small truck is required
  • Dependable, punctual, with an excellent work ethic
  • At least one year of relevant professional experience
  • Willingness to work in all weather
  • Able to carry 50lbs comfortably, and in good physical health
  • Positive attitude, ability to be flexible and a willingness to be able to shift gears to accommodate the unexpected
  • Works well as a part of a crew, and is also able to work efficiently independently
  • Takes pride in your work and is motivated to consistently go above and beyond what’s expected
  • Enthusiasm and interest in horticulture, urban gardening, and container gardening a huge plus!
  • Neat and tidy appearance

  • Horticulture, especially gardening in an urban setting
  • Irrigation System Design & Management
  • Low Voltage Lighting Systems
  • Hardscape design & installation
  • Carpentry
