The Position
This part-time job opportunity is an on-site position managing tools and volunteers for Marine Park Alliance’s stewardship program, supporting the maintenance of native plant habitats. The Gardeners Corps Leader collects qualitative and quantitative feedback and data, documenting work accomplished by volunteers. Volunteer events are open to the general public, typically on weekends, and to trainees from Metro Hort during weekdays. The position convenes volunteers two mornings per week – one weekend day and one weekday (8-10 hours per week). The Gardeners Corps Leader is in charge of preparation, set up, and clean up, plus tool storage and maintenance.



  • Recruit, train, and supervise gardeners corps volunteers on tool use, safety, and landscaping projects
  • Manage tools and supplies for volunteer events
  • Collect data on volunteer achievements
  • Encourage, motivate, and thank volunteers
  • Coordinate with Marine Park Alliance associates, NYC Parks, and partner organizations
