Greenery Sales & Design Manager
(Paid Opportunities) Return to Paid Opportunities
Start Date: ASAP Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 + annual bonus
We design, install, and maintain stunning interior plantscapes and provide exquisite floral arrangements for a diverse clientele across New York City. Our mission is to create vibrant, healthy environments that elevate the spaces where people live and work. We’re looking for a Greenery Sales & Design Manager to own our sales pipeline, lead our design team, and ensure every project is sold well, designed beautifully, and delivered profitably.
This is a leadership role. You’ll manage a small team of Greenery Designers, run the full sales cycle from walkthrough to signed proposal, and be the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks on the revenue side of our business. You’ll work closely with our CEO & Director of Operations to hand off signed deals and plan execution to ensure client satisfaction.
Responsibilities/Duties
Sales Pipeline
- Manage the full sales pipeline from inbound lead to signed contract, ensuring nothing stalls or gets lost.
- Lead client walkthroughs, assess spaces, understand client needs, and translate them into compelling proposals.
- Review and optimize pricing on all proposals to protect and improve margins.
- Track submissions, follow-ups, and close rates. Own the numbers and report on them.
- Prioritize projects and opportunities based on revenue potential, timing, and team capacity.
Greenery Design & Proposals
- Create and review design proposals that are visually strong, on-brand, and appropriately scoped.
- Ensure all proposals go out polished, accurate, and on time.
- Develop standardized templates and processes to improve speed and consistency of proposals.
- Stay current on plant trends, containers, and design approaches relevant to interior landscaping.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a small team of Greenery Designers, building their skills in sales, client communication, and design.
- Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and hold the team accountable to quality and timelines.
- Delegate walkthroughs, proposal drafting, and client communication as designers grow in capability.
- Run a weekly team sync to review pipeline, upcoming walkthroughs, and project status.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Hand off sold projects to the Studio & Install team with clear specs, plant lists, timelines, and client notes.
- Coordinate with the Plant Care Manager when ongoing care contracts are part of a new project sale.
- Flag capacity or scheduling concerns early so the operations team can plan accordingly.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in interior landscaping, plant design, or sales in a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience owning a sales process — from first meeting through close. You’ve built proposals, negotiated pricing, and won work.
- Strong design eye with the ability to assess a space and recommend appropriate plant selections, containers, and layouts.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members. You’re comfortable giving direct feedback and coaching people up. Strong interpersonal abilities for managing both staff and client relationships.
- Margin awareness: you understand how to price work profitably and can spot when a proposal is under-scoped or over-discounted.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active proposals and projects simultaneously without dropping balls.
- Horticultural knowledge, including the ability to assess plant health, diagnose issues, and recommend care strategies is a huge plus.
- Must be comfortable traveling to various client sites across NYC for walkthroughs, and the ability to occasionally assist with on-site styling or plant placement during high-profile installations including occasionally heavy lifting and getting your hands dirty.
