Hands On Gardener, Rose Specialist
Location -Private Residence, Englewood, New Jersey
A private home in Englewood, New Jersey is seeking a highly skilled, hands on Gardener with deep experience specifically in the care and maintenance of rose gardens. The property is approximately one acre and includes multiple established rose beds, climbing roses, and complementary perennial plantings. This is a working gardener role. The right candidate understands roses at a professional level, knows how to maintain peak bloom cycles, and takes pride in the health and presentation of the gardens year round.

Compensation
Salary: 85k to 90k based on experience
Responsibilities/Duties
- Full maintenance of all rose gardens including hybrid teas, shrub roses, climbers, and specialty varieties
- Seasonal pruning specific to rose type and growth cycle
- Structural training and support of climbing roses
- Continuous deadheading and shaping to promote healthy blooms
- Soil testing, fertilization programs, and amendment planning
- Proactive disease prevention and treatment including black spot and powdery mildew
- Integrated pest management
- Irrigation monitoring and seasonal adjustments
- Bed preparation, mulching, and weed control
- Maintaining overall garden presentation at a high standard
Seasonal Focus
- Spring: Structural pruning and shaping, soil conditioning, and garden preparation
- Summer: Bloom management, deadheading, disease and pest monitoring, irrigation oversight
- Fall: Light shaping, soil amendment, preparation for dormancy
- Winter: Protection of sensitive varieties and planning for upcoming season
Qualifications/Requirements
