Start Date: March/April 2020

Horticulture Internships and Seasonal Gardener positions are available at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown, New Jersey and Willowwood Arboretum in Chester, New Jersey. These Morris County Park Commission properties are both approximately 127 acres in size and are comprised of gardens, meadows, and distinctive collections of trees and shrubs. Employees in these positions will gain experience in a public garden setting by working with horticulture staff to help maintain specialty gardens and collections while advancing their horticultural skills.

Responsibilities/Duties

All aspects of garden and arboretum management including planting, mulching, watering, weeding, pruning, mowing, propagating and record keeping.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Interns and Seasonal Gardeners participate in all aspects of garden and arboretum management including planting, mulching, watering, weeding, pruning, mowing, propagating and record keeping.
  • Seasonal Gardeners must have some professional gardening experience while interns do not.
  • Qualified individuals must possess a keen interest in horticulture, a positive attitude and enjoy physical work outdoors.
