 Compensation: $25-$30/hour

Town and Gardens, Ltd. is seeking a dedicated, mechanically minded Irrigation Technician to join our team. Effective garden water management is the foundation of every successful urban landscape. In this role, you will serve as a technical expert, ensuring our systems are designed, installed, and maintained to provide optimal health for NYC’s most prestigious gardens. Whether you are troubleshooting a complex manifold or repairing a rooftop drip system, you will act with a high degree of independence and technical pride

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Master the System: Independently monitor, test, and diagnose complex irrigation issues. You will ensure proper functionality and water efficiency.
  • Lead Seasonal Operations: Take the lead on critical seasonal tasks, including system start-ups and winterizations, ensuring every property is protected year-round.
  • Diagnose and Repair: Act as a "field detective" to identify malfunctions in controllers, valves, and wiring. You will perform comprehensive inspections and execute system upgrades with minimal oversight.
  • Document and Plan: Conduct detailed site inspections, documenting results and materials used via our mobile app suite. You will help plan system enhancements and provide "as-built" data such as irrigation maps for our Account Managers.
  • Maintain Safety and Order: Operate specialized equipment safely. You are responsible for keeping a clean, organized job site and ensuring your vehicle is stocked for daily service needs.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Communicate site observations to supervisors and support other departments when technical irrigation expertise is needed on a project.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Experience: 2–4 years of productive experience in the installation, inspection, and repair of professional irrigation systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of industry specific equipment and common hand tools. You should be comfortable reading site maps and creating color-coded charts/legends.
  • Logistics & Mobility: A valid driver’s license is required. You must be comfortable navigating NYC and working independently across various client sites.
  • Physicality & Mobility: Comfortable with physical work including lifting 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and climbing as well as working in all NYC weather conditions
