 Compensation: $25+ per hour DOE

Trillium Landscape Design is a boutique rooftop and garden design and installation firm based in New York City. We specialize in high-end urban landscapes throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn and are seeking an experienced Urban Landscape Irrigation Technician to join our growing team. 

This position is well suited for a skilled irrigation professional who understands the complexities of urban environments and is comfortable managing both technical irrigation work and supporting landscape maintenance operations when irrigation services are not in progress.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Perform spring start-ups and activation of irrigation systems across multiple NYC properties 
  • Winterize irrigation systems through blow-outs and proper seasonal shutdowns 
  • Make seasonal adjustments and calibrate irrigation programs as needed 
  • Complete minor irrigation system installations and retrofits 
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain irrigation systems and components, including controllers, nodes, pressure regulators, solenoids, valves, micro-tubing, emitters, and related hardware 
  • Perform basic welding related to irrigation systems or supporting infrastructure 
  • Operate company vehicles and transport crew members and materials throughout NYC 
  • Support the landscape maintenance and plant healthcare team during non-irrigation periods 
  • Maintain organization of irrigation materials and job supplies (Uber-level organization 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Demonstrated irrigation experience within an urban environment 
  • Strong working knowledge of drip irrigation systems 
  • Experience opening and winterizing multi-zone irrigation systems 
  • Ability to diagnose and repair irrigation controllers and valves 
  • Comfortable working in residential buildings and coordinating water start-ups and shutoffs 
  • Welding experience a plus 
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills 
  • Professional communication skills and strong attention to detail 
  • Awareness of garden aesthetics   Urban landscaping experience 
  • Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs 
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions 
  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to confidently operate a box truck throughout NYC 
  • Comfortable navigating NYC traffic and subway logistics when necessary
