Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
General Description: The Landscape Architect/Designer’s purpose is to plan and design land areas for projects. Work includes working with clients and the landscaping crews to develop plans to meet client’s needs as well as creating a profit margin for the company.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Development of landscape design plans and construction documents
- Confer with clients, architects and landscape crews on overall design
- Prepare site plans, specifications and cost estimates for all land development, coordinating arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures
- Inspect landscape work to ensure compliance with specifications, approve quality of materials and work, and advise client and landscape crews
- Prepare graphic representations of drawing & proposed plans/designs
- Compile and analyze data on conditions such as location, drainage, and location of structures for environment reports and landscaping plans
- Collaborate with architects or related professionals in whole building design to maximize the aesthetic features of structures or surrounding land
- Plan budgets
Qualifications/Requirements
- Knowledge of business management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methods and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, and drawings
- Knowledge of plants, growing conditions, and plant care
- Knowledge of computer programs related to landscape design
- Must conduct oneself in a consistently positive manner, be a good team player, and display the highest degree of integrity & honesty
- Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft office, Photoshop, Land f/x preferred but not required
- Horticultural knowledge of Long Island regional plants is preferred.
- Quality hand graphics is a plus
- Strong oral, written and graphic communication skills
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills and the ability to self-edit work and achieve a high level of accuracy
- BLA from an accredited Landscape Architecture Program
- Complex problem solving
- Multi tasking ability
- Decision making experience
