Lead Maintenance Gardener

 Compensation: $27-31/hr

Elevations Landscape Design + Build is a boutique design firm specializing in residential landscape projects in the New York metro area.

We are looking for a full-time lead gardener to join our maintenance team.  This is a great job for a fastidious and plant loving person who enjoys working in the great outdoors. The position reports to the principal.
 

Responsibilities/Duties

          Project/Garden Based Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance and seasonal visits to maintain aesthetics and health of plants 
  • Visit sites with maintenance staff to QC, estimate maintenance services, review planting needs
  • Oversee seasonal installations. Review gardens for perennial/annual additions
  • Perform nursery runs for seasonal and planting projects
  • Take photos of completed and changing garden site for design, planning and review

          Office Based Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for clients 
  • Develop maintenance plans for each client garden, reviewing and calculating maintenance labor needs and schedules
  • Compile information and collaborate with other staff to prepare annual and renewal maintenance contracts and planting estimates
  • Update maintenance task calendar/schedule for spring openings, winterizations, and winter maintenance
  • Develop IPM strategy generally and for each garden, monitor progress
  • Review all maintenance logs and communicate with gardeners to evaluate and direct any next steps
  • Design and plan seasonal plantings including layouts, photos, and pricing estimates
  • Create and update maintenance bulletins as needed
  • Directing maintenance supply and inventory

    Managerial Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver maintenance gardener training (maintenance, planting, general botanical knowledge)
  • Oversee maintenance gardener work, making corrections/training where needed
  • Attend and direct planting installation projects, training staff in best practices when required
  • Lead and create outlines for monthly maintenance meetings
  • Conduct off site staff training meetings as needed
