Job Description:
Farmingdale State College seeks to hire a full-time Lecturer in the Department of Urban Horticulture and Design for the Urban Horticulture curriculum. This appointment includes a teaching obligation (15 contact hours/semester) with daytime and evening classes (that may include online and hybrid formats) in horticultural sciences with course topics in one or more of the following areas: general horticulture, landscape plant materials, disease and pest control, greenhouse management/production, etc. The selected candidate will work actively with faculty/staff colleagues through departmental service activities such as student recruitment/advisement, curriculum development, and cooperative assistance in the Department's renowned Robert F. Ench Teaching Gardens. As such, candidates should possess a broad-based knowledge and skill set in the field of horticulture and plant science. An appreciation for the appropriate employment of landscape plants in contemporary urban settings is desirable.

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

• MS or MA or its equivalent in Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field (awarded by the start date of 9/1/2024).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• One or more years of college level teaching experience.
