Compensation: $20-28/hr

Refugia Ltd, a native landscape design/build and stewardship firm based outside Philadelphia, is seeking an experienced Master Gardener to join our team to collaboratively manage 100+ residential properties throughout PA, DE and NJ. Candidate must have minimum 3 years prior experience working with native landscapes.

This is a full-time position based out of Narberth PA, located 20 mins from downtown Philadelphia.
$20-28/hr or commensurate with experience. Benefits include* paid time off with paid holidays, group health plan, 401(k) retirement savings plan, and the opportunity for advancement within an innovative landscape design/build.

The ideal candidate must be hands-on, with 3+ years professional experience working in a native landscaping/garden setting. Responsibilities include:

  • Native landscape maintenance including: weeding, managing invasive plants, pruning, planting, addressing plant health, applying mulch, fertilizing, and aesthetic maintenance.
  • Assist with landscape installations and site prep.
  • Assist with organization, potting, weeding, and watering in the greenhouse.
  • Communicate with clients.
  • Continuing education and training in various protocols.


  • Academic background in horticulture, forestry, ecology, arboriculture, landscape design, land management or related field
  • 3+ years native gardening experience working in a professional private or public setting
  • Passion for ecological residential design and stewardship
  • Confidence to lead seasonal team members
  • Adept at working within daily and weekly schedules
  • Process focused with excellent time and seasonal planning skills
  • Interest and awareness of sustainable best practices and materials
  • Skillful attention to detail and aesthetic awareness
  • Proficient problem solving and ability to adapt per client & seasonal needs
  • Eagerness to initiate and collaborate within stewardship + install project sites
  • Punctual, organized, motivated and diligent
  • Excellent client-facing and team communication
  • Experience working within additional modalities a plus (hardscaping, carpentry, fine arts)
  • Ability to lift and carry min. 50lbs and comfortable working outside in all conditions
