Start Date: March 5, 2026 Compensation: $21.00/hour
Little Island’s Park Attendants serve as the primary stewards of the park and its visitors, cultivating a meaningful and memorable experience for all and maintaining a clean and safe outdoor environment. Park Attendants are key members of the Park Operations department, a dynamic team of collaborative and motivated individuals who collectively care for the park and its visitors. Park Attendants are responsible for engaging with visitors, jumping in to address immediate park needs and help solve problems, and proactively communicating park-related concerns or issues to Park leadership. They embody Little Island’s value of hospitality in all they do. Park Attendants report to the Assistant Park Operations Manager and are directly supervised by Park Supervisors in their day-to-day work.
Ideal Park Attendants are outgoing communicators, accountable and professional team members, and adaptable self-starters who enjoy the details of maintaining a public park. They thrive in the outdoors, prioritize safety, and take pride in caretaking a beautiful public space for all to enjoy. Candidates who can converse in multiple languages (including but not limited to Spanish, French, Mandarin, American Sign Language, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
About the Role

- Employment Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
- Schedule Expectations: Park Attendants work a regular schedule spanning all operating hours of the park, with the flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts
- Work Environment: Onsite, park-based job
- Start Date: March 5, 2026
- End Date: September 27, 2026 with possible extension through October 31, 2026 depending on park needs.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Actively engage with visitors at Little Island, welcoming them into the park and communicating key information such as: park points of interest, park rules, background and historical information about the park, food and beverage offerings, and performance and programming details.
- Participate in maintaining park safety and care, including de-escalating conflicts, following all emergency, weather, and safety protocols, and maintaining a high visual standard of the park, especially during times of high visitation or staff shortage.
- Collaborate with Park Supervisors and other Park Operations team members to execute park opening and closing procedures.
- Assist in tracking and reporting park visitations numbers.
- Work closely with the Park Operations team to remove leaves, debris, snow and ice, using provided equipment.
- Set up and break down park furniture (tables, chairs, stanchions, etc.) for public events or to prepare for inclement weather.
- Report damage to the park or facilities and other hazards using appropriate communication channels.
- Collaborate closely with the custodial team, refreshing trash bags and providing light cleaning support as needed to maintain high visuals standards of the park.
- Perform other duties and tasks related to the park and its operations as assigned.
- Assist the Facilities team with maintenance related tasks as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- A track record of being dependable, on time, and exercising good judgement.
- Patience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Experience executing safety protocols in the field is a plus.
- Ability to actively move throughout the park for extended periods of time in all weather conditions including light rain, summer heat, and intermittent direct sunlight.
- Ability to transport or lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to be trained on equipment such as snow blowers and snow brooms
- Possession of an OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus but not required.
- Comfort conversing in multiple languages a plus.
- Eligibility to work in U.S.
