Start Date: 4/1/2026  Compensation: $19/hour

The Part-Time (PT) Attendant Guard reports to the Facilities Supervisor and under supervision does the following work:

  • Attends, guards, and patrols the botanical garden and perimeter
  • Light cleaning and labor duties
  • Assists in moving chairs and tables during special events
  • Works with Community Service and other volunteers
  • Meets, greets and provides basic wayfinding and related information to the visiting public, including groups.
  • Evening shifts may require you to be the only employee on-site

Responsibilities/Duties

The PT Guard is responsible for:

  • Protection of the botanical garden buildings, equipment, and collections
  • Proper notification to supervisors regarding hazardous conditions
  • Filing incident reports
  • Maintaining order in the areas of assignment
  • Taking appropriate action as needed to notify supervisors, call police, fire department or ambulance, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license
  • Possess a NYS Security Guard Certification
  • Experience as a Guard or Security Officer in a similar setting
  • Ability to troubleshoot various situations
  • Ability to communicate in different languages, a plus
  • Customer service experience, a plus
  • Cleaning experience, a plus
  • Flexibility in schedule, a plus
  • Fire Guard Certificate of Fitness, a plus

Additional Information

Schedule: This is a part-time seasonal position. Position is available Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 6:30pm from April through mid-November, with possibility for extension. This position includes some evening and weekend work.

Compensation: $19/hour
