Start Date: ASAP  Compensation: $28-$33/hour, commensurate with experience

Parker Meadows is a Brooklyn based garden design company providing design, installation, & maintenance. We are seeing a part-time, seasonal gardener to join our horticulture/maintenance team. We are hiring immediately with trial days starting this week.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Providing hands on general maintenance: pruning, transplanting, weeding, fertilizing, checking irrigation systems & soil moisture, cleaning of hardscape, etc.
  • Assisting with seasonal plantings as we move into bulb/ephemeral season & light holiday decorating
  • Identifying unhappy plants, pests, and/or diseases & communicating to manager
  • Keeping consistent notes/ photos of sites & uploading to app *must have smart phone*
  • Cleaning of tools at the end of job, keeping storage areas tidy
  • Navigating Brooklyn while demonstrating punctuality
  • Lifting heavy bags of soil, mulch, plants, etc. in & around client's homes while keeping things clean
  • Working in all kinds of weather while maintaining a professional demeanor 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience gardening in NYC, preferably private/residential
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plant culture, particularly flowering shrubs, perennials, annuals, what, how, when, & not to deadhead
  • Keen eye for detail, patience to cater to individual plants & not just the big picture
  • Basic understanding of irrigation systems & soil structure
  • A team player that can take instruction & communicate appropriately
  • Must have a clean driver’s license & comfortable driving a small van around NYC
