Start Date: Late Summer/Early Fall 2025  Compensation: $24.50 - $30 hourly pay based on qualifications and experience

The Role: We’re seeking a Plant Health Care Technician to join our team. This role focuses on diagnosing and treating tree and shrub health issues using science-based, environmentally responsible methods. Responsibilities include fertilization, pest and disease management, operating vehicles and equipment, and providing overall plant care to ensure healthy, thriving landscapes.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide plant health care services, including pesticide sprays/deep root fertilization, and targeted treatments with organic/conventional products to manage insects and diseases.
  • Identify plant species, pests, and diseases in the field.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatments, materials used, and site conditions
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members about plant health conditions and recommended treatments
  • Assist with other tree & landscape care as needed(pruning, planting, garden maintenance)
  • Operate company vehicles and maintain basic tree care equipment, including garden tools, spray rig, and application tools for fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry best practices
  • Work independently most days

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience in the field of gardening, landscaping, or plant health care. A degree in landscape horticulture or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required; truck-driving experience in NYC a plus
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs or more and sustain full days of physically active labor outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge of common tree and shrub species, pests, diseases, and treatment methods
  • New York 3A pesticide certification preferred or willingness to acquire within 1 year
  • Strong time management and punctuality
  • Collaborative team player, clear communicator, and proactive problem solver with ability to work well independently
  • Passion for ethical, safe tree care
  • ISA Certification or First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Understanding of Integrated Pest Management [IPM] is a plus
