Seasonal Groundskeeper

Start Date: 3/2/2026  Compensation: $20-$23 / hour

Under supervision, perform all grounds keeping and landscaping tasks necessary to maintain the zoo grounds and animal exhibits to the standards of the Wildlife Conservation Society. Central park Zoo would be the main zoo assigned to work at, but must be willing to travel to the Queens Zoo, Prospect park Zoo and the NY Aquarium as needed. 

Responsibilities/Duties

Maintenance of the zoos grounds, working with perennials, herbaceous and tropical plants. Mowing, weeding, pruning, trimming, tree maintenance, planting, basic plant identification. Must be able to use a line trimmer, hand pruners, hand and pole saws, mower, chainsaw, leaf blower and various gardening tools, such as shovels, ball cart, pick axe, digging bars and wheelbarrows.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Garden experience is required.  
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more. 
• Must be willing to work in all types of inclement weather is required.  
• Must know basic English for communication. 
• Must be able to work independently. 
• Pay based on experience.
