Start Date: April 7  Compensation: $20 per hour

The 34th Street Partnership and the Bryant Park Corporation are hiring a seasonal horticulture and landscape maintenance crew member from now through the end of the year, with possibility for rehire in March 2027. The award-winning not-for-profit Business Improvement Districts, operating under a single management structure, share a mission to improve the quality of the commercial, physical, and public space environments in Midtown Manhattan.

The ideal candidate is an experienced landscape professional with knowledge of urban plant and landscape maintenance practices. This is a full time, in-person (not remote) position starting in September 2025. Field hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with one hour for lunch. The position involves outdoor work in all weather conditions. Due to the nature of managing fieldwork, candidates must be willing to work early mornings and occasionally on weekends.

Responsibilities/Duties

34th Street District

  • District parks: Plant, water, weed, and monitor plant health of plantings in Herald and Greeley Square Parks.
  • District pedestrian plazas: Monitor plant health in planters and tree pits; clean, maintain, and move planters and other horticultural and landscape elements between district locations.
  • District Planters: Monitor plant health; clean, maintain, and move planters as needed.
  • District Hanging Baskets: Monitor plant health; maintain baskets as needed.
  • Tree Pits: Monitor tree and plant health; prune trees as necessary; maintain tree pits as needed.

Bryant Park

  • Plant bulbs, perennials, shrubs, and small trees in beds, borders, and planters; weed and maintain planting beds; water, maintain, and clean planters, and move planters as needed; clean and maintain the lawn and the gravel paths around the lawn.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on horticulture and/or landscaping experience, or 5 years doing similar hands-on work.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently to coordinate activities, prioritize conflicting demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork qualities, with excellent listening skills, and an ability to work effectively with others.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
