Urban Forest Fellowship
(Paid Opportunities) Return to Paid Opportunities
Start Date: June 27, 2025 Compensation: $500 stipend
The North Brooklyn Parks Alliance (NBK Parks) is launching an Urban Forest Fellowship to conduct a Tree Survey and Canopy Assessment as part of our McGolrick Park: The Next 100 Years initiative.
The goal of the fellowship is to accurately document all of the trees in McGolrick Park, capturing individual tree health conditions that may impact the health of the canopy and understory layers. In collaboration with Pratt Institute, our fellows will also collect data on street-level heat vulnerability in and around the park.
These findings will be compiled in a final report to help inform near- and long-term strategies for the care of North Brooklyn's oldest park and urban forest.
This fellowship is an excellent training and networking opportunity for anyone who is passionate about urban ecology, environmental science and conservation, or anyone who is enthusiastic about trees and the long term health of McGolrick Park.
