Start Date: Late Winter  Compensation: $35 and up (based on experience)

Lai Chung Gardens is a garden design/installation and maintenance company based in Brooklyn. We are seeking an urban garden maintenance and installation professional who has a strong work ethic to join our team.

Responsibilities/Duties

Executing/assisting in all aspects of garden maintenance and installation.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5 years of professional experience in urban gardening, landscape maintenance and installation in NYC
  • Able to dedicate up to 35-40 hours per week during peak season.
  • Must embrace a flexible schedule to accommodate unexpected long/short days based on availability of work.
  • Extensive knowledge in plant, weed, disease and insect identification and plant health care.  A well-developed skill set in planting pruning shrubs/trees, dividing perennials, training, staking, deadheading annuals/perennials, and overall garden maintenance.
  • Critical thinker who is open-minded, proactive, can problem solve, has excellent decision-making skills and is a high level communicator.
  • Ability to recognize and prioritize all horticultural tasks.
  • Ability to multitask, self-supervise and work as a part of a team.
  • Ability to conduct oneself professionally in correspondence and in the presence of clients/co-workers.
  • Ability to assist with all project preparations, such as vehicle preparation, site protection/preparation, plant delivery and plant layout.
  • Proficient computer skills. (Gmail and Google Workspace)
  • Must be punctual and able to work in all types of weather. Ability to lift and transport up to 50lb through homes, up and down stairs, etc.
  • Must possess a keen eye for detail, cleanliness and aesthetics.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to drive a cargo van throughout NYC and Long Island.

Design, irrigation, plumbing, and/or lighting experience is a plus, but not required.
