Outlands Botanics is a floral and garden design studio based in Brooklyn. We specialize in bringing a whimsical, natural aesthetic to our clients using organic practices and focusing on local materials. We also grow cut flowers on a rooftop farm in Brooklyn.

This position includes three days a week of indoor/outdoor plant maintenance and floral design. The schedule and locations are the same every week, so you are able to build a relationship with the spaces, the teams who run them, and the plants. Weekly clients include restaurants and one large residential building were we maintain a 1,000 square foot indoor garden. While you will be in close communication with our team, this job is primarily an independent position. 

Additional work days are frequently offered during our busy season. The schedule for these days can range from covering other's weekly account days to joining for larger garden/plant installs. 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Maintain indoor and outdoor plants/gardens
  • Floral design for restaurant accounts including bud vases and medium sized arrangements
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while onsite

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with indoor and outdoor plant maintenance practices (pest identification and treatments, watering needs of various plants, etc)
  • An interest in floral design/ general design
  • Familiarity with our local seasonal flowers of the North East
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to navigate the city carrying flowers/ supplies, and to be comfortable on a ladder
  • Availability Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays
  • Strong preference given to those with floral design experience, those familiar with the 28th street flower market and the union square farmers market, and those with a passion for local flora

Additional Information

This position guarantees 18 hours/ week year round, with additional hours offered. There is flexibility for time off etc. This is a 1099 position and health coverage is not offered. Position may transition to full time in Spring 2026.
